More About Holy Yoga and Pilates Reformer Classes
Mixed Level Yoga: Traditional Hatha Yoga ideal for both beginners and those who have practiced yoga before. Components include body awareness, deep breathing, visualization, stretching and strengthening postures, meditation, relaxation, and guided imagery. Beginners welcome.
Holy Yoga: this alignment-based class is Christ-centered. Scripture is shared during meditation and breathwork followed by yoga poses and balance postures.
What is Holy Yoga and how is it different from traditional yoga?
Holy Yoga is different from traditional yoga in many ways. It is a Christ-centered form of worship that involves weaving the word into various stretches, balance poses, breathwork and meditation. We teach to glorify the Lord, not ourselves, to glorify the Creator, not creation. The focus is on the Word. For the Christian, the body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and the disciplined habits of yoga bring both awareness and alignment to the body, mind and spirit. Focusing the mind through meditation and breathwork leads to stillness in traditional yoga, but in Holy Yoga it allows for us to quiet our mind so we can hear the Word of God through the Holy Spirit. Even a novice with many distractions can attain complete relaxation, peace and strengthen his or her relationship with the Lord.
Pilates Reformer Classes: From beginners to advanced levels, Reformer classes offer something for everyone. Whether your goal is to increase flexibility, strengthen and tone your muscles or just challenge your mind and body, you will find this to be one of the best and most fun workouts you will ever have. The reformer is a Pilates-specific apparatus that allows for resistance through all ranges of motion to tone, strengthen and improve muscular balance.
